How did you get into design? I’ve always been into art but didn’t know what I wanted to do. It was around my last year in high school, I took a Photoshop class and since then I fell been in love and never looked back.
One favorite book you've designed and why? There’s too many to choose from. Each cover I’ve designed comes with a memorable experience.
What do you like about being a book designer in publishing? Everything that comes with it. From reading stories, unpacking creativity that can land in so many directions . . . everything about being a book designer has been a one of a kind experience.
Favorite book or current read and why? Currently reading Hood Feminism by Mikki Kendall and my favorite book for inspiration is Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert. It helped me to get out of my creative block and trust myself and my ideas, because if I don’t, someone else will.
Tell us a surprising fact about you? I have an identical twin and pretty obsessed with ice cream . . . YUMMM!
What did you learn about publishing that you wish you knew before? No one knows what they’re doing, they just learn as they go. Since then I’ve accepted every mistake as a step closer to the top, wherever that may be.
What's one goal you have for yourself in this industry? I'd love to become an Art Director for an imprint(s)
How do you over come a creative block? I love to disconnect from my emails, watch movies and visit museums/galleries.
