Program Participation Agreement
4. Liability and Release
To the extent permitted by applicable law, I acknowledge the risks associated with participating in BBBD programs and agree that BBBD and its directors, officers, volunteers, facilitators, and representatives are not responsible for losses, injuries, damages, or claims arising from my participation, except where liability cannot legally be waived or limited.
5. Virtual Participation and Technology
For virtual programs, I understand that participation may require access to the internet, a compatible device, and third-party platforms. BBBD is not responsible for interruptions caused by technical issues, internet connectivity, or third-party services outside its reasonable control. I agree to respect the privacy of other participants and not to record, distribute, or share program content or participant contributions without appropriate permission.
6. Photography, Recording, and Intellectual Property
I understand that certain BBBD programs may include photography, video, audio recordings, or the sharing of creative work. My participation does not automatically grant BBBD permission to use my name, image, voice, or submitted work for promotional purposes. Any such use requiring my consent will be subject to a separate authorization. I retain ownership of my original creative work and agree to respect the intellectual property rights of BBBD and other participants.
7. Email Communications and Privacy
I understand that BBBD may use the contact information I provide to communicate with me about the program, registration, scheduling, and related organizational updates. I may separately choose to subscribe to newsletters or other promotional communications and may unsubscribe from them at any time. My information will be handled in accordance with BBBD’s applicable privacy practices.
8. Acknowledgment and Agreement
By submitting my registration and agreeing to these terms, I acknowledge that I have read, understood, and agreed to this Program Participation Agreement. This agreement applies to the BBBD program or event for which I register, whether held virtually or in person, subject to any additional event-specific terms communicated to participants.
Disclaimer: As always, our events are a celebration and safe space for Blk + Brwn individuals. While we will try to prioritize tickets for participants from those communities, allies from all backgrounds who support our mission and goal are welcome. By registering for or participating in any program, event, workshop, or activity hosted by Blk + Brwn Book Designers, Inc. (BBBD), whether virtual or in person, I acknowledge and agree to the following terms.
1. Voluntary Participation
I understand that participation in BBBD programs is voluntary. I agree to participate respectfully and understand that I am responsible for my own decisions and actions throughout the program.
2. Personal Responsibility and Assumption of Risk
I acknowledge that participation in BBBD programs may involve certain risks, including physical risks at in-person events, technical difficulties during virtual programs, and interactions with other participants. I accept responsibility for my participation and agree to take reasonable precautions to protect my safety, well-being, and personal property.
3. Participant Conduct
I agree to treat all participants, facilitators, volunteers, speakers, and guests with respect. I will contribute to an inclusive, supportive, and professional environment. Harassment, discrimination, disruptive behavior, or other conduct that undermines the safety and accessibility of the community will not be tolerated. BBBD reserves the right to address violations of its code of conduct, including removing participants from a program when necessary.
