Pronouns: She/her
Where are you from?: Chicago Illinois
Race/Ethnicity: Black / African American
Languages: English
Current Position / Role: Senior Art Director at Amazon Publishing
One favorite book you've designed and why?: IN ANY LIFETIME by Marc Guggenheim
Many reasons, but I was under a very tight deadline and this concept was suggested by me. We’d already handed the project over to me in house, so I had to make it work.
How did you get into design?: I started as a creative assistant at a small advertising agency in Chicago after college. I worked my way up from there. I have a BFA in studio arts, painting, so I’m a bit of a self taught designer.
What do you like about being a book designer in publishing? : It’s the best of both worlds. I came from an art and writing background so it naturally fits.
Tell us a surprising fact about you?: I’m multi-handed and it’s served me well in this industry. I am a left-handed writer, but most everything else, including using my mouse is done with my right hand.
What's one goal you have for yourself in this industry?: I love the constant logical challenges I face at work. A natural progression to ACD/CD would be great.
