How did you get into design? I loved books growing up and originally wanted to illustrate books covers. But I was lucky enough to land an internship with the Tors book design team and then was eventually hired full time.

Favorite book or current read and why? My favorite book is The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. I just really loved the magic that oozes out of that book. I read it as a teen, and I still get the same magical feeling every time I re-read it. Funnily enough, I'm currently reading Erin's 2nd book, The Starless Sea, along with Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo! I'm excited about The Starless Sea, but I'm looking forward to reading Clap When You Land because it's a book I can relate to as a Dominican American.

Tell us a surprising fact about you? I love Kpop! It started as a curious listen, and then I had downloaded all of BTS's discography. I also really like ice skating! It's super fun and something I always look forward to in the winter.

What did you learn about publishing that you wish you knew before? You don't have to be a writer to get into publishing. There are so many different departments needed to create a book, not just the editor. Also, networking is key if you want to get your foot in the door.

How do you over come a creative block? I try to get out and walk around my neighborhood or park. I also like learning how to cook and back things.
